From their studios in Aotearoa New Zealand, Cheshire Architects work across architecture, interiors, furniture and urban design, creating places defined by materiality, atmosphere and a strong sense of purpose.
Led by Fraser Horton and Nat Cheshire, the practice brings together disciplines that shape how we experience the built environment. Their work ranges from intimate, carefully crafted spaces to landmark projects, including Hotel Britomart in Auckland.
For NOTEL, this design philosophy is distilled into a compact architectural form: considered proportions, beautiful materials and a thoughtful relationship with the surrounding landscape. Fraser’s experience in prefabricated architecture brings an additional understanding of how design, manufacture and delivery can work together.
Working alongside Makespace, Cheshire Architects have helped shape a new approach to modular accommodation — one that brings architectural integrity and precision construction together without compromising the experience of a great hotel.

Makespace brings extensive experience in architecturally designed modular construction, combining design understanding, technical expertise and precision off-site manufacturing.
With build facilities in Auckland and Christchurch, its team delivers projects throughout New Zealand, including to remote and challenging locations. A considered approach to materials, construction and project delivery helps translate architectural vision into beautifully resolved, buildable spaces.
